CHANGEmaker Monday – Janet, KMRI Coordinator Kenya

April 13, 2015

The CHANGEmaker Monday series is a periodic feature on team members and ICChange Ambassadors showcasing their commitment while giving you an inside perspective on the individuals across the globe that make up the ICChange network.

Janet-BP-editJanet Yego is our KMRI Operations Coordinator, liaising with clinics in Kibera, helping train staff, answer questions from various stakeholders; she is ultimately a jack of all trades. She enjoys her position and welcomes the challenges that she faces on a daily basis. “I am motivated by the fact that in one way or another I am helping bring change to someone’s life. Be it at work, may be they can do something better/faster than before, be it just talking to them on their issues on life; a problem shared is a problem half solved.”

Before joining the ICChange team, Janet was a journalist, working for a national newspaper, The Star in Eldoret, Kenya. She has a degree in Information Sciences from Moi University in Eldoret and has an interest in the health sector supporting water and sanitation programs in her previous work experience.

Janet is a people person, her enthusiasm, contagious positive attitude and smile allows her to build strong relationships. “I am a people’s person, I love to meet new people and get their ideas on life in general.”

What does change mean to you?

“Change to me means to be able to take charge of a situation and work on it in a way that would impact positively. Change is to be able to plan, commit and sacrifice for greater achievements.”

What do people not know about you?

“Despite being a people person, I like to stay in total silence when I am alone, especially when I want to unwind. My favorite fruit is the banana. I have a phobia for masses of water, having almost drowned in a river growing up in the countryside.”
